Frequently asked questions

General questions

LIFT is an intralogistics middleware designed for manufacturers and warehouses that need to integrate AGVs, AMRs, forklifts, conveyors, and enterprise systems (ERP, WMS, MES) into a unified, automated workflow. It eliminates disconnected systems, reduces inefficiencies, and optimizes material flow—without custom coding.

This diagram illustrates how LIFT connects enterprise systems, automation platforms, and fleet technologies into a unified workflow.

Fleet management software tracks and schedules robots, ensuring safe navigation and coordination within a defined space. Fleet managers direct robots on the best way to get from point A to point B.

LIFT goes further. It orchestrates entire workflows, integrating AGVs/AMRs, manual processes, and business systems like ERP, WMS, and MES. It not only determines points A and B (and C and D and beyond...) for the mission, but it also supports advanced business logic before, during, and after mission execution.

LIFT doesn’t replace fleet managers — it works alongside them, ensuring every part of your operation stays connected and in sync.

Warehouses and factories rely on a mix of AGVs, AMRs, forklifts, conveyors, and manual processes—but these systems don’t always communicate with enterprise systems like ERP, MES, HMI/SCADA, etc. The result? Disconnected workflows, inefficiencies, and unrealized ROI.

LIFT solves these challenges by seamlessly integrating all systems into a single, optimized workflow.

LIFT is vendor-agnostic and works with any AGV, AMR, conveyor, PLC, sensor, or control system. For vehicle management systems (VMS), this includes pre-built integrations for Bluebotics, MiR, Navitec Systems, OTTO by Rockwell Automation, and more coming soon. We are constantly working to add more Integrations, so even if your VMS is not listed here, chances are LIFT can still connect to it. Contact us to discuss your needs.

LIFT supports OPCUA, MQTT, APIs, and direct system integrations, making it compatible with most enterprise software and automation hardware.

APIs allow systems to communicate, but they don’t handle data transformation, protocol conversion, or real-time orchestration. LIFT bridges these gaps, ensuring cohesive automation between AGVs, AMRs, forklifts, conveyors, and enterprise software.

Watch Brice Bucher explain why middleware is essential for overcoming API limitations:

Integrating automated vehicles and enterprise software can be complex due to disconnected workflows and data silos. LIFT acts as a middleware solution that connects AGVs, AMRs, ERP, WMS, MES, and SCADA, ensuring seamless real-time coordination and data flow.

Watch Brice Bucher, Sr. Manager of Products, explain how middleware bridges these gaps:

No. LIFT provides a drag-and-drop workflow editor. This allows users to configure automation logic, mission triggers, and system rules without coding.

Implementation & security

LIFT integrates with Bluebotics, MiR, Navitec Systems, and OTTO by Rockwell Automation.

If your VMS isn’t listed, LIFT can likely connect—contact us to discuss your needs.

LIFT is designed for rapid deployment. Most implementations take days or weeks instead of months, depending on system complexity.

Yes. Setup and deploy LIFT your way. From air-gapped on-prem environments to fully virtual cloud infrastructure, it’s built to work the way you do.

LIFT currently supports Microsoft Entra ID for secure access, but can support any SAML-based SSO provider on-request.

Minimum Recommended Single-Machine Deployment:

  • Windows Server 2016 or higher (Linux Installation Available Upon Request)
  • CPU – eight (8) Dedicated CPU Cores, minimum
  • RAM – 16GB, minimum
  • Storage – 150GB minimum (500GB recommended)

Functionality & features

Yes. LIFT enables multi-agent orchestration, allowing AGVs, AMRs, forklifts, and conveyors from different brands to work together.

Yes, LIFT provides real-time tracking, monitoring, and alerting to keep operations running smoothly.

  • Live Data Visualization → Tracks robot movement, mission progress, battery life, and task status.
  • Configurable Alerts & Notifications → Users can set up real-time alerts via SMS, email, and in-app notifications. You can define which tasks alert certain users. For instance, if an AMR arrives at a storage rack but a forklift isn’t there to unload it, LIFT can send an automatic alert to the forklift operator, ensuring faster response times.
  • Automated Exception Handling → If an issue occurs (e.g., a shipping dock is full, an AGV is stuck, or a door is closed), LIFT automatically reroutes or escalates alerts to the right team.
  • Mission & System Logging → Every event (pickup, barcode scan, delivery, errors) is timestamped and logged for reporting and audits.

Yes. LIFT allows on-the-fly workflow modifications without disrupting automation processes.

Two common scenarios:

  • Manufacturers and/or warehouses looking to integrate automation and improve logisticsy
  • Companies managing AGV/AMR fleets needing a middleware solution for interoperability

Scalability & support

Yes. LIFT adapts as operations grow, making it easy to add new automation, modify workflows, and scale across multiple facilities.

LIFT provides comprehensive support, including:

  • API documentation & knowledge base access
  • In-app troubleshooting tools
  • Direct assistance from our expert team

We also provide software maintenance and support packages.

LIFT eliminates the need for custom-coded integrations, reducing:

  • Deployment time
  • Maintenance costs
  • System complexity

Use case examples

Multi-Point Scheduled Waste Pickup

  • An automated vehicle follows a predetermined route to collect waste bins from one or two locations, bringing them to a central disposal area.
  • LIFT triggers the mission at certain predefined intervals.

Mid-Route System Manual Demand Pickup & Delivery

  • An automated vehicle picks up a material from a predefined central supply location and needs to traverse a mid-route obstacle (door, elevator, etc.) with an API.
  • LIFT communicates with the system to allow vehicle to proceed to desired pre-defined delivery location.
  • An operator manually triggers the mission by selecting the mission to run on a control interface.

Multi-Vehicle Multi-Delivery Automated Demand Pickup & Delivery

  • An automated vehicle from Fleet A picks up a material from a predefined central supply location and delivers it to a predefined staging area.
  • An automated vehicle from Fleet B picks up the staged material and delivers it to an autonomously selected delivery location.
  • A sensor automatically triggers the mission by detecting a low stock level at a given delivery location. This location is passed to LIFT via a PLC or similar device to define the delivery location.
